Mirasol lives on a family farm 20 years into the future. She has a monotonous existence marked by scarcity that is punctuated by her mother leaving every day to go hunt. One day in the garden, Mirasol finds a tiny seedling that she cares for as her secret project, only to discover that her mother has a secret of her own.

  • Annalise Lockhart

    DIRECTOR

    Annalise Lockhart is a writer & director, born and raised in NYC. Her first short film, INHERITANCE, won numerous awards including Best US Short at the Palm Springs Shortfest, the Lionsgate/Starz Award for Best Speculative Fiction at BlackStar Film Festival, and Best Director: Fantastic Shorts at Fantastic Fest. She was profiled in Filmmaker Magazine’s 2021 edition of 25 New Faces of Independent film. Her upcoming short film with Mary Glen Fredrick, “Anything Valuable,” was selected for the 2021 Tribeca/Chanel Through Her Lens workshop.

    She has worked extensively as a 1st Assistant Director on projects such as Reservation Dogs (FX), Random Acts of Flyness (HBO), The Assistant, and The Fits. She received her B.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing while at Stanford University.

  • Loren Semmens

    PRODUCER

    Loren Semmens began his career creating narrative and live content for companies such as Adidas originals, SanDisk, Hitachi, Nike, Razer, G-Technology, Goldenvoice, SpaceX, Riot, MSG, Apple, and more. Loren has executive produced numerous feature films including All Cheerleaders Die, which premiered at TIFF to positive critical reception; Lucky McKee’s The Woman, world premiere at Sundance; Ghoul, an NBCUniversal co-production, Jug Face, which won the Slamdance Screenwriting Competition; and Dead Season which premiered on SyFy. Loren has also produced successful digital series including Oishi High School Battle, 16 Bit High School, Laurie the Lousy Fairy (DreamworksTV). He is an Emerson College alum, holding a B.F.A. in Visual and Media Arts.
